For the fourth day in a row, I have watched the sun peer through the curtains as it rises above The Crest. Today, I may actually move more than 20 feet away from my building, and PERHAPS even get off campus.
Yes, I said campus. Another semester is upon us, and with the return of evils such as books to read, papers to write, and cafeteria food to stomach come such wonderful things as new courses (with the shiny gleam of interest), new professors (who may have been in the movie "Signs", or have earned the nickname "The Living Legend"), and hopefully a more productive 14 weeks than the last time around.
Unfortunately, Jess's and my vow for productivity and perseverence seems to already be doomed. We have discovered even more tactics of time-filling procratination (although I don't suppose it's really procrastination when we don't have anything that we need to immediately do!). We have welcomed a new member into the infamous "group", beat each other un-mercifully (don't worry, it's only Smash Brothers on the N64), and thoroughly exhausted many topics of conversation (some starting "I really love my roommate, BUT...").
Between Jess's accusations of my Psycho-analysis of her personality and her yelling "Kay-rin!" in a distictly "Ozzy Osborne" style, we have grocery shopped (finding amazing deals), ordered pizza (yum... bread sticks), consumed large quantities of the college staple "Hunny Bs" Cereal, made pasta at 4:30 AM, participated in Tantric Phone Sex with a Lexmark tech support guy (no, that was only Jessie, not me), played Cranium, and caused a general ruckus on campus.
Jess and I seem are getting along splendidly so far, I have taken to calling her Ozzy (refer to paragraph above), or alternately "The *#^$-ing Prince of Darkness". We have worked our way through most of an amazingly long to-do list, which included everything from vacuuming to making lego-people. We also have hung a new chinese dragon that adorns our christmas lights (a firehazard probably), redecorated our door by adding new schedules and various mementos from our Florida trip, and taken down some of the christmas lights that we put up.
Our group also seems to be getting along quite well. A month away from each other was much-needed and much-appreciated. As much as we love each other, we all do need time away from each other. It helps break up the monotony a bit. Sadly, I have seen very little of Mel (%%tasha154%%) this semester, but I'm sure that will be fixed soon enough. I'm going to try to schedule a "date" with her for the two of us. We've been wanting to see the Lion King while it's on IMAX, so I hope we'll be able to get there.
In other happier news, Kris, my amazing SIS, is coming home for a week at the end of the month. I'll be meeting her at the airport and driving her home and hopefully spending a few days with her while she's home. I miss her more than I can even begin to describe (I know it confused my RA when I bawled for two hours when it finally hit me she was leaving for a year back in August), but I'm so proud of her and I'm thrilled that she loves her job so much. I just wish Chicago wasn't so far away.
Unfortunately, becuase of the time that Kris's plane arrives, I may not be able to participate in a forensics tournament in Baltimore on the first of February. But spending time with Kris is more important to me that competing. I just wish that I was able to do both. I don't doubt that I could drive to Baltimore in time, but I would probably be too exhausted to compete. Oh well, you win some you lose some.
Well, seeing as the sun is now shining painfully bright and I have class in four hours, I think I will now drag Jessie to shower and we will celebrate our insanity by going to IHOP for all-you-can-stomach pancakes! For tomorrow, we die... or I at least attempt to sell my plasma!
